Isuzu Motors South Africa (IMSA) has been busy this year with many changes to some of its most popular models. Speaking at a virtual media briefing this week Dominic Rimmer, Senior Vice President Technical Operations said, “despite challenges posed by the Covid-19 pandemic and the national lockdown the engineering and product development team at Isuzu has been hard at work making changes to the current line-up of vehicles with some key updates for 2020 as well as doing engineering and durability testing on the upcoming next-generation D-MAX bakkie.”

“Isuzu has a very long and rich heritage in our market. We have been engineering and manufacturing reliable and durable vehicles for the last 48 years. In that time, we have learnt valuable lessons about what it takes to engineer a vehicle which can cope with the tough driving conditions in South Africa. Our customers are also very particular about what they want. Our aim is to engineer vehicles [...]

Isuzu Motors South Africa (IMSA) has revamped its seven-seater Mu-X sport utility vehicle (SUV) with an array of enhancements for the exterior, along with more sophisticated, and upmarket finishes for the cabin.

The safety package has also been upgraded with the addition of a Brake Override System (BOS), as recently introduced on the Isuzu D-Max range, which helps reduce stopping distances in an emergency, the group said.

“The launch of the Mu-X in 2018 revived Isuzu’s proud legacy in the SUV segment and the updated model for 2020 brings fresh design updates and improved safety to this accomplished and versatile seven-seater,” said Dominic Rimmer, executive, technical services at Isuzu Motors South Africa (IMSA).

Visually, the front of the refreshed Mu-X features a bolder radiator grille design, complemented by a restyled front bumper incorporating colour coding for the upper section and a contrasting gloss black finish for the lower portion, as well as for the fog [...]

The survey measures and tracks a wide range of issues of importance to South African car buyers, with more than 10 000 new vehicle owners participating in the 2019 survey.

“We are very proud of the recognition given to our dealer partners and sales staff by the people who matter the most – our customers! As part of the Ownership Satisfaction survey, vehicle owners who have recently purchased a vehicle were asked about their experience in terms of the salesperson’s professionalism, friendliness, (perceived) honesty, product knowledge, and how well extras such as insurance, on the road costs etc. were explained, as well as the [...]

Gift of the Givers medical personnel will use the bakkies during the lockdown period. According to Badr Kazi, Gift of the Givers Director and National Coordinator, reliable transport is always needed during crises and the bakkies will be deployed accordingly. “We are grateful for the [...]

You and your 4×4: Earn your stripes

Isuzu has earned its stripes as a rugged adventurer. With a history of over 40 years in South Africa – from KB bakkies to the newer D-MAX bakkie – Isuzu has rightfully racked up a reputation as a true legendary workhorse, one of the toughest with the never-fading promise of durability, reliability, and capability.

It has a proven track record of being “With you, for the long run” always and forever.

And while Isuzu has earned its stripes, there is baton being passed on to 4×4 owners in the form of things and situations – let’s call it a 4×4 owner’s rite of passage – that you will either come across eventually, or it is high on the top of many off-road adventurers’ bucket list of experiences.

And once you find yourself in these situations – or get yourself out of these situations – you’ve earned the right [...]

Isuzu Motors South Africa in Port Elizabeth has started supplying knocked down (KD) Isuzu D-MAX pick-up kits for assembly purposes to its Isuzu manufacturing facility in Kenya. This represents the first intra-continental regional trade exchange of its kind for Isuzu on the continent and is aligned to its strategy for its South African vehicle assembly plant to serve as a hub for growing its overall volumes in Sub-Saharan Africa.

Isuzu Motors Limited, majority shareholder of Isuzu East Africa, regards the opportunities in Africa, based on infrastructural investment, to be significant. The East African operation previously focussed only on truck and bus assembly operations while fully importing light commercial vehicles from South Africa.

Isuzu is a leading brand in the East African markets, with a commanding 44.5%  share of the Kenyan new vehicle market in 2019.

Isuzu Motors South Africa CEO and Managing Director Michael Sacke said Isuzu’s market strength in East Africa can be contributed [...]
